Go Fish vs Old Maid
Go Fish is a game of asking and remembering. You ask another player for a rank you already hold, and every request tells the table what is in your hand. Four of a rank make a book, and the most books wins, so a good memory really helps.
Old Maid is almost all luck. One queen is removed so another has no partner, everyone discards their pairs, and you draw blind from your neighbour. Whoever is stuck with the odd queen loses. There is nothing to learn, which makes it perfect for the youngest players.
