Callbreak
Popular 4-player trick-taking game: Spades are trump, must-head tricks, cutthroat calls.
How to play
Four players, 13 cards each. Spades are the permanent trump suit.
Each round starts with players calling (bidding) between 1 and 8 tricks they intend to win.
Lead any card. You must follow suit if able and MUST play a higher card than the current trick-winning card if you have one.
If void in the led suit, you must play a Spade (trump) if you have one, and must overtrump if a spade was already played.
Making your call scores your bid plus 0.1 for each extra trick. Failing your call subtracts your bid. Highest total after all rounds wins.
About Callbreak
Callbreak is a popular South Asian trick-taking card game played by four players with a standard 52-card deck. Spades are always the permanent trump suit, and the game is strictly cutthroat with every player competing for themselves. Before each round begins, players estimate and announce their call—the exact number of tricks between 1 and 8 they intend to win. During play, you must follow the led suit and must head the trick with a higher card whenever possible. If void in the led suit, you must play a spade and must overtrump if another player has already trumped. Making your call scores your bid plus one-tenth of a point for each overtrick, while missing your call subtracts your full bid.

Tips for Callbreak
- Only call tricks you can reliably guarantee with high spades or side-suit Aces, as failing your call penalizes you the full value of the bid.
- Because heading the trick is mandatory, hold onto your lower cards to shed on tricks you cannot win rather than getting forced to play intermediate cards.
- Track which suits opponents have voided: when a player trumps your led suit, they will be forced to play higher spades on subsequent rounds.
Questions about Callbreak
How many people can play Callbreak?
Callbreak is played by exactly 4 players. Real players and bots can share a table, so a game can always start even if you do not have enough people.
Can I play Callbreak against the computer?
Yes. Pick easy, medium or hard bots and start straight away. Bots only use what a player in their seat could see, so they cannot peek at your cards.
Can I play Callbreak online with friends?
Yes. Create a private room and share its code, or join a quick match. If someone drops out mid-game, a bot takes over their seat.
