Egyptian Rat Screw
Face card challenges and fast slap patterns. Counter face cards or slap doubles and sandwiches to capture the pile.
How to play
All 52 cards are dealt face down into personal stacks. Players take turns flipping cards to the center pile.
Face cards demand chances: Ace demands 4, King 3, Queen 2, and Jack 1 chance from the next player.
If the challenged player counters with a face card, the challenge passes to the next player. If they fail, the challenger wins the pile.
At any time, slap the pile on a Double (consecutive matching ranks) or Sandwich (matching ranks separated by 1 card).
The last player with cards wins the game.
About Egyptian Rat Screw
Egyptian Rat Screw (ERS) is a fast-paced reaction and challenge card game played with a standard 52-card deck. The entire deck is dealt face down into personal stacks. Players take turns flipping cards to the center pile. When a face card or Ace is played, a challenge starts: Aces grant 4 chances, Kings 3, Queens 2, and Jacks 1 chance to counter with another face card. If the challenge fails, the challenger wins the whole pile. At any moment, any player can slap the pile when a Double (matching consecutive ranks) or Sandwich (matching ranks separated by one card) appears to capture the cards.

Tips for Egyptian Rat Screw
- Stay alert for doubles and sandwiches even when it is not your turn; slapping is the fastest way to recover from an empty stack.
- When challenged, flip your cards smoothly and deliberately so you do not accidentally reveal more cards than allotted.
- Face cards not only defend against penalties but also reset the challenge counter onto the next opponent.
Questions about Egyptian Rat Screw
How many people can play Egyptian Rat Screw?
Egyptian Rat Screw is played by between 2 and 4 players. Real players and bots can share a table, so a game can always start even if you do not have enough people.
Can I play Egyptian Rat Screw against the computer?
Yes. Pick easy, medium or hard bots and start straight away. Bots only use what a player in their seat could see, so they cannot peek at your cards.
Can I play Egyptian Rat Screw online with friends?
Yes. Create a private room and share its code, or join a quick match. If someone drops out mid-game, a bot takes over their seat.
