Canasta vs Rummy 500
Canasta uses two decks and four jokers, with twos and jokers wild, and is played by two sides, which can be pairs of partners. The goal is a canasta of seven cards in one rank. The whole discard pile can be taken, but only under strict conditions, and it can freeze when a wild card is thrown on it.
Rummy 500 is closer to ordinary rummy. The discard pile is spread out and you can take any card in it and all the cards above, if you use the deepest one right away. You can lay off cards on anyone's melds, and the first to 500 wins.
