Gin Rummy vs Rummy 500
Gin Rummy is a duel for two. You draw and discard, form melds, and knock as soon as your unmatched cards total 10 or less, risking an undercut if your opponent is better than you thought. Hands are short and the game is usually played to 100.
Rummy 500 seats two to four players and keeps the discard pile spread out. You may take any card from it along with all the cards above it, as long as you use the deepest one at once. You score for the cards you meld and lose points for those left in hand, and the first to 500 wins.
