Stacks

Draw from your personal stack, build central foundations (A to K), and press rank + 1 onto opponents' waste piles. Empty your stack to win.

How to play

All cards are dealt face down into personal draw stacks. 4 central foundations build A to K by suit.

Each player maintains their own face-up waste pile.

On your turn, flip the top card of your stack: play it to a foundation, or press it onto an opponent's waste pile if exactly one rank higher.

Playing to a foundation or opponent's pile lets you draw and play again!

If you cannot play, discard to your own waste pile to end your turn. First to empty both stack and waste wins.

About Stacks

Stacks, also known as Thichne (तास) in Nepal, is a fast-paced shedding and sequencing card game for two to five players using a standard 52-card deck. All cards are dealt face down into personal draw stacks. Four central foundations build by suit from Ace up to King. On your turn, draw the top card of your stack: you can play it to a foundation, press ('thichne') it onto an opponent's waste pile if it is exactly one rank higher, or discard it to your own waste pile. Playing to a foundation or opponent's pile allows drawing again. The first player to empty both stack and waste wins.

Tips for Stacks

  • Always press onto opponents' waste piles whenever possible: it offloads your cards while burdening rivals with extra cards.
  • Check the top card of your own waste pile on every play, as it can cascade into foundation plays or opponent waste dumps.
  • Keep an eye on foundation ranks so you do not accidentally discard an Ace or low rank that could have opened a chain.

Questions about Stacks

How many people can play Stacks?

Stacks is played by between 2 and 5 players. Real players and bots can share a table, so a game can always start even if you do not have enough people.

Can I play Stacks against the computer?

Yes. Pick easy, medium or hard bots and start straight away. Bots only use what a player in their seat could see, so they cannot peek at your cards.

Can I play Stacks online with friends?

Yes. Create a private room and share its code, or join a quick match. If someone drops out mid-game, a bot takes over their seat.
